The 25th annual National Farmers Market Week wrapped up Aug. 10. It was celebrated by markets around the state and the country. Locally, Gov. Dunleavy declared the week Alaska Farmers Market Week “Alaska’s farmers markets strengthen the state’s food security, food access, and independence.” You can read the full proclamation here: https://gov.alaska.gov/farmers-market-week-4/
Nationally, for the first time, the U.S. House of Representatives joined the U.S. Senate and U.S. Department of Agriculture in recognizing National Farmers Market Week.

Our last Chef at the Market event was held on Saturday, Aug. 17. Joe Spady did an outstanding job as chef this season creating delicious dishes using products purchased from our vendors. The Chef at the Market program is designed to introduce customers to new foods and new ways to prepare them.
Shopping Local matters. Our Market is host to 28 local, small businesses. We host farmers of all kinds; produce farmers, flower farmers, chicken farmers, sheep farmers, and goat farmers. We also host a bee keeper, specialty food producers, artists, and authors. Everything sold at our market is either grown or made right here on the peninsula.
